CGT changes and Melbourne property market update – Webinar Q&A Recording

Michelle Griffiths joined this Property Mavens webinar last week and provided her expert commentary on the issue of Non-Residents losing CGT exemption on Australian real estate. From 30 June 2020, the government will remove the Capital Gains Tax (CGT) exemption on a Principal Place of Residence (PPR or main residence) for non-residents. For people who are not ‘tax residents’, any property sold after this date will incur tax on the capital gain, including family homes. Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are affected.
